This work demonstrates how the semantic Web related technologies can help in electronic commerce negotiations. The main technology approached in this study is Web services, together with UDDI service registries. Through semantic annotation in the description and search for services, making use of OWL language and the ontology for services OWL-S, one can obtain the benefits of the semantics in task automation. The prototype implemented demonstrates all the described technologies in an integrated way, being a reference to other implementations in this field. Despite the limitations in the implementation due to the fact that the semantic Web is in an initial stage, the work shows some benefits that can be obtained in a dynamic business environment between organizations.
