This work presents the specification and development of an application for the Android
platform that assists in the literacy process with the recognition of characters from drawings
made on the screen of the mobile device. The user can select which character to train and then
the application provides a training area with the character, an image and a word referring to
the character and a space for drawing. After the finished drawing, the application recognizes
the character with the Tesseract and displays the result on screen. There were good results,
several characters were recognized, but there were also points that should be improved in
character recognition as identifying characters with small differences in rotations and sizes.
Finally, some additions have been suggested, such as using image processing, which seeks to
improve and expand character recognition capabilities in the application. |
