Abstract:
This paper presents the development of a web application for the assistance of students
and teachers in the teaching and learning of chemistry, specifically the concept of molecular
geometry. The application's main objective is the design and validation of the structural
formula of a molecule with a central atom and its representation in a three dimensional
environment. For this to be possible the application has four main areas, the input of the
chemical formula, the list of elements where the elements in the drawing area and the viewing
area. For the creation of objects in the drawing area is used Fabric.js framework that
facilitates the creation and manipulation of objects in a canvas element, as for the creation of
three-dimensional objects is done using Three.js through the engine games developed by
Montibeler (2014). This game engine provides a component architecture thereby facilitating
their use and possible extension. Application tests were performed with first and second year
students of high school of a private school in Blumenau region.
